Rather be somewhere else-Chiamaka

...at Lorraine's hair salon

I’d rather be somewhere else
I’d rather be at an outdoor café
Maybe in a remote French village
Flirting with the middle aged waiter
As I order a drink
I’d rather be flipping my long braids
On a cool summer day like this
Crossing my legs, batting my eyelids
In a flowered skirt, that matches my lipstick
I’d rather be sitting with my Love
Or an apposite replica of him
Relishing my notion of happiness
Talking about dreams and the ironies of life
I’d rather be twirling the strands of this hairpiece
As though they’ve always been there
Smiling at my creation
At all I want him to be

“chocolat chou, s’il vous plait”
