Punitively Damaged

The plight of a 'relocator' in America.
Some of our friends that relocate to America arrive not only with the task of keeping their heads afloat but the burdens of others become theirs to carry as soon as they set foot on the greener pastured land. TO RELOCATE OR NOT TO RELOCATE
For some reason, we think that "developed countries" are a better option. I am tempted to argue in favor of staying put whereever we find ourselves but I will leave that to another post.

The decision to relocate depends on where you are. Try the war-ridden African countries. I'd relocate if I was faced problems like... being raided by a band of insurgents that rip up my household, take my belongings, rape my daughters, and force my sons to rape my wife...while I watch at gun point (true story).

In cases like the above, there is no comtemplating the "get outta here" option.
For those who decide to relocate, how do you leave everyone you love in a place that you cannot stand. You end up with only one option:

Institute change. Large scale change. That is every relocators dream...to make things better...for his immediate family at least. Who knows, maybe pigs can fly after all.

How can you leave a wife in Somalia and feel good every morning you wake up in America? How do you bring her over to join you if America says no because too many other relocators are trying the same with their mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, husbands and wives. As long as wealth, power and 'freedom to be' remain skewed in favor of developed countries, there will be relocators.

That my friends is how the burden of a relocator is birthed. While he is faced with minor inconveniences like finding a job, getting shelter and making a living, his mind is set on goals that are bigger than himself. He seeks ways to extend the good fortune beyond himself to his loved ones who do not have the luxury of even planning a life.

The question remains, how does he manage the additional burden without pulling down himself? How does he deal with the numerous ills of adjusting to a new environment while providing a solid spring board for those who come after him?
